Kids Room

Cleaning up the kid’s room is one of those never-ending chores. You clean the room; they mess up the place. It is a never-ending cycle that can be frustrating, and while it is tempting to leave the mess and clutter, we know deep down that we cannot and that if we don’t, they may get hurt.

We can make it a little more fun for ourselves by turning some music on and getting some exercise dancing while we clean, but even this can get tiring. The trick is in working out how to get the kids to clean their room. The only way that we are going to get this done quickly is to help them set up the room so that everything has its place to go or hire cleaners in Sydney that can help them clean and set up the room.

Much of this is going to depend on how old the kids are and the type of toys they have that they usually play with while in their rooms. The easiest thing to start with is to purchase some low-cost containers of different sizes – Think of plastic bins or tubs that toys can be quickly thrown or packed away into. These can brighten up the room if you can find some interesting items.

With their bed, buy them a top bed cover that has one of their favourite cartoon or movie heroes (Think along Star Wars Lines, Spiderman, etc.). Let them know that you will buy if they straighten it each time they get out of bed. I have found that while the bed is not entirely made, that they do have some pride in having their top blanket straight so that they can see the fi=ull action figure on it.

While I believe in giving incentives, I prefer to use stimuli that are already a part of their lives. I would not offer something on top of what they already have to get them to clean their rooms. For cleaning their bedroom mine get an extra scoop of ice cream after dinner. If you have made it easy for them to clean their room, they will spend a few minutes to do it just for the extra ice cream.

Realistically it is going to depend on the children that you have and how they react to doing things for themselves that will either make or break this, but if you can get the above little steps into place, it is a start, that once they are used to completing, you can use to build upon.

There are a lot of other things that you can use such as incentive boards, and many more but my goal is to get them to take over the responsibility. I do this in little steps so that the next steps can be added onto as they get a little older otherwise you are stuck with the chore for a long while to come. If you decide that the above is just too hard, then at least get the buckets for yourself as it can still be fun with the radio on seeing how many Hot Wheels cars you can land in the bucket from across the room.
