Headboard Buying Guide

Headboards are both functional and decorative in their purposes.  From the functional standpoint, they keep pillows anigifand other bed linens in place and from a decorative angle, they help define a room’s overall look.  Headboards are available in a number of styles and made from many materials.  Upholstered headboards have been a favorite through the years, but wrought iron headboards are a popular choice too.  Wooden headboards, of course, are the first choice for many consumers.

Many styles include the straight lines most popular in more contemporary bedrooms while many like angles and even floral designs offered by many manufacturers while others like dual functionality offered by those with shelves for lamps and books.  Look for rounded corners, curves, raised panels for contrast, button tufts, leave and vine designs in iron headboards and myriad of other style choices. Upholstered headboards allow for the addition of color via the fabric choices they present.

Headboards are sized according to your bed.  Twin beds, or single beds, generally measure 38″ x 75″, full or double beds measure 53″ x 75″, queen beds are 60″ x 80″.  King size beds measure 76″ x 80″.  Finally, there are the California kings which offer a bit more length than the standard king size bed.  Their measurements are 72″ x 84″.

Once you’re determined the right size, selecting your headboard is as easy as determining which styles you like best.  Modern Furniture Warehouse has over 75 styles to select from and prices to meet any budget.  From the colorful headboardheadboards perfect for a child’s bedroom, such as the twin curve upholstered headboard, to a more elegant headboard for your master bedroom (we like the Dynasty Headboard), to the traditional look of wood, such as the Sonoma Tall Storage Headboard, we have something for everyone’s taste.
