TV Mount Glossary

Ceiling Mount – Ceiling mounts are used for home theater projectors that install to the ceiling and video is projected to a screen.

Platform Mount – Platforms can be considered traditional mounting devices for standard televisions.  The platform rests on an extending arm that’s attached to the wall.

Under Cabinet Mount – These were initially used for smaller televisions (13″ or smaller) in kitchens, dorms and offices.  The name is derived from the under the cabinet installation options.

VESA Compliant – Those companies with the seal of approval from Video Electronics Standard Association.

Articulated – Those TV mounts with movable parts that replicate an arm.
