Lamp Glossary
Base – The bottom part of a table lamp that serves as its foundation
Blown Glass – Glass made from a blowpipe and then formed by hand
Crown – On a hanging lamp, this refers to the decorative trim that centers the top of the shade
Embossed – Patterns or designs pressed or molded into a lamp; refers to metal and/or glass
Etching – Producing designs in glass by incorporating acid to remove parts of the glass to form patterns
