Outdoor Fountain Buying Guide

Nothing adds charm and elegance to your outdoor living area than the inclusion of an outdoor fountain.  They’re mesmerizing, add another earth element to outdoor design layout and the soothing sounds are nothing short of relaxing.

There are many available, in countless sizes, designs and shapes, that it can become overwhelming to select the right one.  And too, there are a few other considerations when shopping for your outdoor garden fountain.  First, we’ll discuss sizes and shapes.

As you might expect, there are many options -

Wall Fountains – These aren’t as complicated as they seem and don’t require a major overhaul to the exterior walls.  By keeping the pump, hoses and electrical cords out of sight, it can easily appear as though the water is coming from the wall through the fountain.  They’re easy to install and don’t require a lot of space.

Multi-Tiered Outdoor Water Fountains – These beautiful fountains offer tiers that allow the water to travel from one level to the next and then recycle through the hoses again.

Either of these designs are available with different accessories and are also available in many sizes.

Your second consideration is the space you have available for your decorative fountain.  Remember anytime water’s involved, there’s sure to be splashing.  You want to place it where it can be fully enjoyed, but without getting guests and family members wet in the process.

There are the sounds to consider.  Looking for the gentle sounds of water flowing across stones or will your fountain be placed a small distance from your outdoor living area?  If so, you might wish to install one that will provide a louder cascading sound for better sound dispersion.

Remember, too, if you have a large yard, a smaller outdoor fountain’s beauty might be lost in the vast size of your yard.  Likewise, bigger fountains tend to overwhelm smaller lawns.  Keep proportions in mind as well as safety considerations if there are younger children who will be in its vicinity.
