Accent Lighting Glossary

Accent Lights – Small lighting units, either in the form of table lamps, wall sconces, floor lamps or candles, used to provide soft lighting.

Light Bulb Watts – Units of electricity that determine a bulb’s brightness.  One watt equates to 1/746th horsepower.

Flicker Bulbs – Standard light bulbs, but provide a flicker similar to what a flame emits.

Energy Star Ratings – Efficiency ratings provided by Energy Star that determines the costs and savings associated with any given electrical device, including light bulbs.

Dimmer – Device in an electrical circuit that’s used to alter the brightness of a lamp’s bulb.
