Interior Lighting Glossary
Base – The bottom portion of a lamp where the lamp rests.
Accent Lighting – Localized lighting used to provide focus or direct attention on a room’s paintings or other decorative elements.
Candlestick Lamp – Lamp with tall, slim column – much like the diameter of a tapered candle. Also referred to as a console lamp.
Circuit Breaker – Safety device used to prevent excess current flow to lamps and reduce the risk of fire or other damage to a home.
Cove Lighting – Lighting fixtures, sometimes recessed, used in bookshelves or in corners of a home’s wall to provide ambient lighting.
Harp – The frame that attaches a shade to its lamp.
