Interior Lamp Buying Guide
Our lighting choices set the mood for our homes. Small interior lamps, strategically placed around a room, can be inviting, warm and comfortable. We generally reserve overhead lighting for those times when a brighter light is
needed; but it’s generally those small ambience lamps that light the way on a daily basis. Table lamps, floor lamps, desk lamps – these are all just another name for interior lamps. If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the various terms and available lamps on the market, keep reading for a few helpful tips.
Are you looking for a way to light a dark corner in a room but don’t have enough space for an accent table? Consider a floor lamp. It takes up far less space than a table would and it will allow you to lighten your corner.
Table lamps have a multitude of uses. If you’re looking for a tabletop lamp that will project a soft glow, there are many modern lamps with darker shades designed just for this purpose; however, if you’re placing it near a recliner or on an end table where the evening newspaper is read or homework is completed, consider a lamp with a lighter shade with guidelines that allow for a stronger bulb. You may wish to incorporate those lamps that offer flexibility so that you can direct the light to where it’s needed.
Desk lamps aren’t usually intended to serve as the primary source of lighting in an office; instead, they’re meant to be used as an additional light to be used in tandem with overhead lighting. A desk lamp can illuminate your desktop area, making it easier to see the various documents that come across your desk on a daily basis.
Finally, interior lamps are available in many colors, themes and sizes. A fun and festive lamp for a child’s bedroom might just be what the doctor ordered for the little ones afraid of the dark. Bedside lamps come in many styles and
colors and should be purchased with their intended uses in mind. If you read in bed or find yourself working on your laptop long after the sun’s gone down, select a lamp that will supply ample lighting to reduce eye strain.
