Wicker Glossary

Wicker furniture – Furniture constructed from willow or rattan and sometimes reed.

Victorian planters – Plant stands constructed of rectangular wicker pieces and placed on porches or patios.

Rattan – Long stems of palm that grows in east India.  Easy to manipulate, it’s not uncommon to find rattan in wicker furniture.

Powder coated aluminum – This is what the vast majority of wicker furniture is framed with.  It’s lightweight and makes furniture rearranging easy.

Sunbrella – Fabric manufacturer that uses 100% solution-dyed acrylics to ensure long wearing use outdoors.  It’s found in umbrellas, awnings and outdoor furniture.
