Speaker Stand Glossary

Floor Cones/Spikes – Small inserts placed on the bottom of some speaker stands for a raised look.

Floor Cups – Pads that can be placed on the floor or bookshelf for even more stability.  Usually made of stainless or brass.

Acoustic Suspension Speaker – Speaker systems where the air enclosure defines the sound and response of what leaves the speakers.  Many say the sounds are better defined in ASS.

Monopole – Speakers that fire on the same planes and send the sounds in the same direction.
