Selecting a Platform Bed

So what exactly is a platform bed?  American Heritage dictionary defines it as:

A bed consisting of a mattress on a solid platform raised off the floor by legs or framing, with the floor space beneath the platform used for living space of storage.  

This is a great new look and trend for bedroom furniture.  The absence of a box spring ensures sharper lines, a simpler and clean look without compromising the support box springs have traditionally offered.  The additional storage you’ll discover under the bed is well worth at least the consideration of incorporating a platform bed into your bedroom’s furniture layout. 

A contemporary platform bed provides a modern look, and when coupled with the right accessories, it provides an entirely new feel you’ll look forward to coming home to at the end of the day.

So what is it exactly you should look for in a modern platform bed?  You want it to look good in the room that’s allocated for it.  If your current trends are oversized wood furniture with a light finish, naturally, you’ll want to expand the light finish to your wood platform bed.  Do you not have enough room for an additional dresser, yet could really use the drawer space?  Consider a platform bed with drawers built into the available space that a platform bed offers underneath.  Another great addition is the platform bed mattresses that are available.  Memory foam is a great alternative to the thicker mattresses we’ve grown accustomed to.  They’re ideal for the platforms and can provide a very comfortable and restful sleep.
