Patio Tables Buying Guide

It’s that time of year once again when we’re taking a long, hard look at our outside living areas. Maybe we’re considering a hammock between those two glorious oak trees, or perhaps we’re considering how a great a patio table will look. We just know there has to be a way to spruce up that outdoor area and make it inviting for guests and neighbors. If a patio table is your cure-all for the outdoor blues, keep these tips in mind:
How big is your patio area? Is it covered? Do you want to keep your patio tables under your canopy? If so, you want to get a clear mind’s eye picture of how big a space you have. Grab your digital camera and take some pictures from different angles. This will be a big help as you’re browsing the various patio tables online. If your area already has a large bar-b-que pit and a table that’s used as a ‘catch-all’, how about a few smaller tables to add some summer flavor? These are ideal for entertaining guests and ensure there’s a convenient table within reach, no matter where your guests are standing. A folding iron table is a great example and they usually come complete with an umbrella holder. They’re lightweight and easily go from a covered patio area to your back yard or poolside. Always a favorite, wood patio tables remain in big demand too. These look great with wood benches or chairs.
Another great idea is the classic folding tables, sometimes referred to as TV tables. Now, though, they come with trays attached and in a multitude of colors or wood finishes. These are perfect with patio chairs on either side and are easily found pre-weatherproofed.

Size matters! It’s always better to invest in a few smaller tables that ensure guests and visitors can easily move throughout your outdoor living area versus a larger, oversized table that’s bulky and awkward and takes up the entire space. Consider the shape, too. Will a square or rectangular table work best in your area or will a round table allow you to be more versatile in its placement? Outdoor patio tables are a great way to spruce up your lawn area and with the right accessories, lighting (think candles) and seating areas, you can easily make your patio the hot spot of the summer.
