Lounge Chair Buying Guide

Mention the words “lounge chair“, and it immediately invokes visions of comfortable seating areas that encourage that great pastime known as “lounging”.  We live for those moments.  It’s what we look forward to at the end of a particularly long day and “lounging” is how we best define a weekend we intend to spend at home.  When you’re ready to update the look of a room without spending a lot of money, lounge chairs are the ideal solutions.  Now that we’re in full summer-mode, why not consider adding a few pool lounge chairs to update your outdoors living area too?  Here are some great ideas and tips for selecting the right lounge chair:

Is your room accessorized with contemporary pieces?  Do you prefer the lovely dark teak wood over a more traditional oak?  Are you more drawn to abstract art pieces than those from say, the Renaissance era?

If so, there are many beautiful teak lounge chairs or other contemporary loungers that will update your modern room.  That’s the magic in chairs – they have the ability to transform an area without having to invest an entire weekend (or longer) in doing so.  Be sure to measure properly.  If you’re replacing chairs that are already being used, a good way to get proper measurements is to measure those already in the space.  From there, you’ll decide if the chair was a good fit.  It could be it was too small or large all along.  This is your opportunity to select a chair that’s better proportioned to the room and the other furniture that will remain.

Although you want to make a statement, you don’t want that statement to say, “I can’t coordinate furniture”.  Be sure your new chairs will coordinate well with your sofa or flooring.  There’s no need to match it perfectly and in fact, nothing looks better than contrasting patterns – provided they complement the other.

Covering Choices

Before you decide on that new upholstered chair, ask yourself if a leather chair might be more advantageous (or vice versa).  Have you been eyeing that perfect leather ottoman?  This could be the time to choose leather over upholstery.  Suede sofa?  Keep that in mind as you’re searching for your lounge chairs.

The same goes for your outdoor seating choices, too.  Remember that you don’t have to match your new chair coverings with what you already have.  If you have vibrant and bold strips in tropical colors of orange, blue and green; why not choose a solid color for your new pool chairs?  It’s much easier to match that shade of orange than it is to find the exact stripe pattern.  It adds personality to your seating choices too.

Keeping this in mind will go a long way as you’re searching for your new lounge chairs.  Before you know it, you’ll be redefining what it means to “lounge”.
