patio fire pitsNothing brings all of the earth’s elements together quite like outdoor fire pits.  These are incredibly popular, even during the summer months.  There’s no better way to spend a lazy summer evening than around your pool or patio with a slow burning fire as your source of relaxation.  Fortunately, there are many sizes, types and uses available in patio fire pits.  In fact, there are so many, you may want do your homework before you make your purchase.  Of course, we’ve simplified that homework and have everything you need to know outlined below.

The round fire pits seem to be the most popular and are usually fast moving inventory items.  They’re easy to move around and are available in solid cast iron or other metals. Even though you’re more apt to locate the steel or cast iron pits, it’s not difficult to find those made from copper or even clay. It’s important to realize the space these pits require.  Fortunately, they’re available in varying sizes to accommodate the smallest of patios or larger backyards.  A general middle of the road size is around 30″.

Fire tables are another excellent option in fire pits.  They incorporate gel fuel and are safe to burn indoors.  Usually made from eucalyptus, fire tables come with their own snuffers for proper fire extinguishing.  These have become increasingly popular due to their ease of use and their safety features.

Most fire pits require some assembly; however, this also means they’re easy to disassemble for easy storage on road trips.  Be sure you choice in fire pits come with the right accessories, including a screen, screen lift tool and any other necessary parts. Check the parts regularly to ensure they’re in good working order and aren’t a safety hazard.

Keep in mind:

You want to ensure your patio fire pit is constructed with quality materials and are powder coated screens and fire bowls.  Otherwise, you run the risk of rust on the metal parts.

Never place any fire pit under trees with low limbs, overhangs or other enclosed areas.  Always provide adequate airflow.

Ensure your outdoor fire pit is in no way an impediment to the flow of traffic in your outdoor living area.  Since most have curved legs and feet, allow ample room for family and guests to pass.
