Bedroom Mattress Glossary

Dovetail – Joining boards at right angles via wedged mortises and tenons and is used to construct dresser drawers.

Teak – Trees found in the tropics and used in furniture construction.  It’s both durable and beautiful.

Comfort Layers – The layers of mattress material that provide comfort and usually consist of various foam or synthetic fibers.

Loft – Used to describe height or thickness of a mattress.

Posturized – Used in the bedding and mattress industry to describe additional built-in support to the center of an innerspring.

Visco Elastic – Referred to as “memory foam” and is used in many new mattress designs for better sleep habits.
