Bedroom Furniture Glossary

Armoire – A tall wardrobe that dates back to the 17th century and is found in many bedroom furniture collections.

Highboy – Tall chest of drawers with or without legs.

Ticking – Cotton or linen fabrics used for mattress covers.

Down – Expensive duck or goose feathers used in pillows and for other padding purposes.

Bed Skirt – Specially cut material that is placed between the box spring and mattress and used to decorate the bed base as well as cover the space under the bed.

Chiffonier - Tall with more narrow drawers than a highboy, chiffoniers are beautiful additions to any bedroom.
