Selecting an Indoor Water Fountain

Nothing adds a sense of tranquility and balance to a home more than a water fountain.  They’re easy to install and will quickly become the focal point of any room.  A well chosen and well placed wall fountain invites inspiration as well as relaxation while a table fountain is easily moved from room to room.

Wall Fountains

Wall fountains are true works of art and will add a beautiful decorative touch to your home.  They’re made of various materials such as stainless steel, slate, copper or marble.  You’ll want to ensure the room is big enough to support the

wall fountain and its associated noise from the waterfall.  If your choice is too large for the room itself, you may find a need to keep your television’s volume higher and quiet conversations may become difficult.  Since it won’t lie flush against a wall, you’ll need to provide ample room and ensure it’s not near doors or other areas where it can be disturbed.  Many people are coordinating their wall fountains as part of an entire area, complete with plants and even aquariums.

If you’re concerned a wall fountain might be difficult to install, rest assured it’s a matter of properly attaching it to the wall, filling the reservoir with water and plugging it in.  Once you’ve properly secured the electrical cord, it will look as though the water is coming out of your wall.

These fountains can be moved from room to room and can provide the same peaceful ambiance as their larger counterparts.  They’re usually made of ceramic and are lightweight.  Many come with the option of trickling water versus the waterfall sounds and you also can opt to purchase one that has a mist that provides a fog effect.  The designs are numerous as well.  Many of the newer ones use globes that roll when the fountain is on.  Other models allow you to incorporate water plants or even small goldfish.  Regardless of which ones are best suited to your tastes, these fountains are great conversation pieces and add beauty to any room.

Areas where table fountains work well include desk or table tops, shelves or window sills.  Many people prefer toreserve a corner of their room specifically for the fountain and other accessories such as their plants.  Table fountains work well in dens, living rooms or patios.  Since they’re most often lighted, they can double as a night light in bedrooms or even at the end of a hall.
